MG2012 NORTH CAROLINA BORDER TOUR
http://mg2012ncbordertour.blogspot.com/

The NAMGBR MG2012 event in Dillard, Georgia, will have a complementary tour that will “Bookend” the June 6-10 MGB focused event.

Designed to provide great MG driving roads, wonderful sightseeing and vacation opportunities plus plenty of MG fellowship while driving a route that circumnavigates the great state of North Carolina, the MG2012 NC Border Tour will begin outside the state’s capital of Raleigh in the Town of Rolesville. The rallye will officially begin on Monday, June 4th and travel to the Mt Airy area with an overnight stop right off of Interstate 77 in Dodson, the home of North Carolina’s largest winery – Shelton Vineyards. Tuesday the group will travel almost totally on the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and spend the evening in historic Asheville. Wednesday the rallye will continue on the Parkway to its terminus in Cherokee and then head on to Murphy, the state’s westernmost city before turning back to the east to Dillard, Georgia, and MG2012.

When MG2012 wraps up on Sunday morning, the tour will begin again, this time heading to the very scenic Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area (think “Dirty Dancing”) for a wonderful sightseeing evening. Monday the group heads past the home of NASCAR outside Charlotte and on to United State’s golf capital, Pinehurst, with dinner among the Long Leafed Pines. Tuesday will dawn with the group heading to Wilmington and the Battleship USS North Carolina before driving up the Neuse Sound to an overnight stop in historic New Bern. Wednesday we’ll head through historic Washington and Bath (Black Beard) on our way to Manteo and the Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills (Wright Brothers) area on the Outer Banks. Some will stay on to take in the sites of the Outer Banks and some will begin their drive home while the diehards will continue on from the Atlantic to end the loop of North Carolina where we began in Raleigh/Rolesville.

In all, the Tour will cover almost 1600 miles over eleven days with three of the days spent at MG2012. A modest registration fee is planned that will get you a Rallye plate for your MG, hospitality parties each night on the route and wonderful MG memories. This event is open to all MG enthusiasts and all MG models. So if you wished you made the Rallye To Reno, make your plans today to join us on the MG2012 NC Border Tour.  For more information keep an eye on www.classicmgmagazine.com then click on the right nav the NC Border Tour  or contact Pat Wharton at rwharton@nc.rr.com   or call 919-600-8023.
